2010 Conference Information
The Far Western Philosophy of Education Society's 57th annual meeting will be held January 14-16, 2010 at Utah Valley University.
Utah Valley University is located in Orem, Utah just off the I-15
University Parkway exit (#269) at 800 West University Parkway Orem,
Utah 84058. Click here for a map of the campus. Conference events will be held in the University library which can be found on the North side of campus, number 29 on the map.
Those registered for the conference will be issued a parking pass with their registration packet which should work in all student lots on campus. Because of the location of the confernence guests should try to park in lots P, Q, R, S, T or N. Click here to download a parking map. Metered parking is also available on the south side of the campus in front
of the Administration Building just off the main entrance round-about
in lot B. Parking paid by the hour is also available on the north side of campus in
lot L.
For ground transportation to and from the airport call the Express Shuttle at (801) 375-5533 or visit www.expressshuttleutah.com. Standard shuttle service rates one way from Salt Lake to Orem run around $33 or $66 for round trip. Conference attendees should mention their registration with FWPES to receive a price reduction.

Area Attractions
Bridal Veil Falls is a beautiful waterfall along Hwy 189 in Provo Canyon. It is most impressive in spring and early summer when flows are highest and wildflowers surround the area. You can view the falls from a highway pull-off or hike to its base.
Thanksgiving Point holds a Garden Emporium (a gift shop with a home and garden twist featuring a full-service floral shop); a tropical greenhouse and other greenhouses; Vegetable Gardens; and English Gardens. The Thanksgiving Gardens are 55 acres of gardens, waterfalls and lakes. Enjoy the sweeping vistas of the Grand Allee, cross the Monet Bridge and watch the flower-bordered creek ripple by, or walk to the amphitheater and marvel at the largest man-made waterfall in the Western Hemisphere. Park City is an attractive resort town in the Wasatch Mountains, 32 miles east of Salt Lake City. Once a center for silver mining, Park City transformed itself in the mid-twentieth century to a skiing mecca. With accommodations for more than 12,000 visitors, Park City was one of the major centerpieces of the 2002 Winter Olympics. In the summer, Park City remains a very popular destination with a tram ride to the top of the mountain so that visitors can descend on foot, mountain bike or alpine slide. Year round cultural events, such as Artstravaganza in August and the renowned Sundance Film Festival in February, bring a wide selection of international travelers to Park City, creating a cosmopolitan vibe not often found in this part of the country.
